From a field boundary to a lender's model

Eight steps and one engine, with sixteen views of the result. Every screen on this page is the real studio, captured from two demo projects: strawberries under a rain-shelter canopy near Stellenbosch, and chili under an overhead array in West Java.

Start from the real field

Drop a square, trace the boundary corner by corner, or import the file you already have. Set the headland and per-edge setbacks; the site panel shows what fraction of the parcel the array can use, and which rule sets apply.

Pick what grows in the shade

Thirty-five crops, each with its evidence grade, season and light need. The studio suggests crops for the region by fit or by revenue, prices them per kilogram with the source, and takes the farmer's own yield if they know it.

Choose the structure, then tune it

Five archetypes, ranked for the crop you picked. A to-scale preview redraws the solstice shadows as you change the structure, the tilt and the row spacing. Covered designs compare themselves with the plastic they replace.

Thirteen stages, in the browser

Pick a weather source and year. The picker shows each source's licence before you build, so a commercial project never rests on non-commercial data. Then every stage runs, from site to ledger, and checks itself off.

The answer, then sixteen views

One sentence says what the design produces and whether it pays. The land and money trade-off sits beneath it, and every number opens its basis and sources when clicked.

Searching the design space

Save builds side by side, sweep two parameters at once, or ask the studio what to build for a crop, or what to grow under a structure.

Saved variants
Up to 12 builds side by side, every measure as a delta against the baseline.
Explore designs
A two-parameter sweep of up to 25 full engine runs, plotted as energy against relative crop yield with the Pareto front. Apply any point.
What should I build?
For a crop: a Latin-hypercube search over every structure with a three-way Pareto front of energy, yield and CAPEX. For a structure: crops ranked by evidence-weighted yield and price; a crop with no evidence is refused.

09One real build

One build, stage by stage

Stage timings from the Stellenbosch demo build shown in Fig. 4, in a laptop browser. Fetching the hourly weather year is 8.3 s of the 8.7 s; the thirteen engine stages that follow take 281 ms between them.
